Develop intimacy with Father God through different ways to pray to him. The example Jesus gave us to pray the Lord’s prayer or as some call it the Our Father prayer, is the true pattern of all prayer that brings intimacy. Our Father is a statement of intimacy!

The Lords Prayer or as some say the ‘Our Father’ prayer is, without doubt, the true pattern of all prayer. (Matthew 6:9-13)

Our Father… – A statement of intimacy
Which art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name… – A statement of praise
Thy Kingdom come… – Petition of desire
Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven… – Petition for God’s will
Give us this day our daily bread… – Petition for our needs
Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors… – Petition for forgiveness
Lead us not into temptation… – Petition for protection
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory… – A statement of praise
Amen – Statement of confidence

God has promised His children joy, peace, power and authority to triumph over the challenges of life.

Praying the Word of God is praying in the will of God

God’s promise to you: “I am sure of this, that Jesus will listen to me whenever I ask Him for anything in line with His will. And if I really know He is listening when I talk to Him and make my requests, then I can be sure that He will answer me” (1 John 5:14,15 TLB.)

The Lords Prayer Expanded

My Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your Name

Thank you, dear God, for sending Your Son to die for me. It is because of His shed Blood that I can call You Father (Galatians 4:6).

I praise You for Your Name and its benefits to me. For it is through Your Name that I am forgiven and have deliverance from sin’s dominion.

Jesus, I declare that you are my righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21) and sanctification (1 Corinthians 6:11).

You give peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7). I declare Lord Jesus, You are my peace.

Praise to the One who forgives all my iniquities and heals all my diseases (Psalm 103:3), also according to your Word, You were bruised for my iniquities and by Your stripes I am healed (Isaiah 53:5). Jesus, You are my healer.

Jesus, You are my Provider. Thank you Jesus that I do not have to fear, for You are my Protector. Your banner over me is love (Song of Songs 2:4).  Your Word declares, “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things.” (Romans 8:32. KJV).

You are a kind and gentle Shepherd, Lord Jesus, and You will instruct me and teach me in the way that I should go (Psalm 32:8).

Your Kingdom come. Your will be done in my life as it is in Heaven

(In the life of my partner, children, Pastor, missionary)

Cause me to hear voice today for Your Word says, “My sheep hear my voice, and they follow me.” (John 10:27 KJV).

Open my eyes that I may see clearly Who Christ is and all that He has done for me (Ephesians 1:17) and that I may see wonderful things in Your Word (Psalm 119:18 TLB).

Set a guard over my mouth O Lord; keep a watch over the door of my lips (Psalm 141:3).

Whatever my hands find to do, help me to do it with all my might (Ecclesiastes 9:10).

Your Word tells me to, “Taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8.)

Help me to trust and obey Your Word, for it says that I am to love You with all my heart (Matthew 22:37.) Jesus I want to tell You today, “I love You.

Show me how to walk in the Spirit today (Galatians 5:16), that I may produce the fruits of the spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22).

Today I choose to put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness (Isaiah 61:3 KJV).

In the Name of Jesus and in the power of the Blood, I forbid (Matthew 18:18) the hindering spirits of frustration, fear, confusion, deception and unbelief from affecting my life, and I release the Spirit of the Lord, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and strength; the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord (Isaiah 11:2).

In the Name of Jesus and in the power of the Blood, I forbid the hindering spirits of selfishness, control, jealousy, fighting and anger and I release the spirit of love. For love is patient; love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast, it is not proud or rude or self-seeking; it is not easily angered or keeps any record of wrong (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

In the Name of Jesus and in the power of the Blood, I break down every proud argument against God and every wall that keeps my friends (or loved-ones) from finding God (name them). I ask you, Holy Spirit, to take hold of their thoughts and draw them to Jesus (2 Corinthians 10:5).

Give me this day my daily bread – be specific

I decree that I will seek first the Kingdom of God, and your righteousness; and all things shall be added to me (Matthew 6:33). As I work today, I will trust in You Lord with all my heart, and lean not to my own understanding. In all my ways I will acknowledge You and You will direct my path (Proverbs 3:5,6). May the favour of the Lord my God rest upon me, and may He establish the work of my hands (Psalm 90:17).

I thank you that You are sending a blessing on everything I put my hands to and that You will bless me in the land You are giving me (Deuteronomy 28:8). As I work today, may I apply my heart to instruction and my ears to words of knowledge (Proverbs 23:12). Thank you Jesus that You have promised to rebuke the devourer if I bring my tithes and offerings into the storehouse (Malachi 3:8-10).

Forgive me my sins as I forgive the sins of others – be specific

I choose to forgive, on the basis of Your Word, for it says, “If you hold anything against anyone, forgive.” (Mark 11:25). Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me (Psalm 51:10 KJV).

Lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from the evil one

Ephesians 6:11 says to put on the full armour of God that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Therefore, I put on the belt of truth, and the breastplate of righteousness.
I put on my feet, the readiness of the gospel of peace and pull down the helmet of salvation. I take the Sword of the Spirit and the shield of faith (Ephesians 6:12-17). I choose today, to obey and trust You Lord Jesus. Thank you for giving Your angels charge over me to guard me in all my ways (Psalm 91:11).”

For Yours is the Kingdom the power and the glory

“Praise be to You. O Lord, God of my Father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendour, for everything in heaven and earth is Yours. Yours, O Lord is the kingdom; You are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honour come from You; You are the ruler of all things. In Your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. Now, my God, I give You thanks, and praise Your glorious name (1 Chronicles 29:10-13.)”

Our aim in these sessions is to help you enjoy all that God has for you. You will discover that you can completely trust in God’s love and acceptance and have the assurance that he wants to answer your prayers.
